FYI for June 2007
LexisNexis®
CaseMap® new features and integrations is the theme for this
month’s Client FYI. Are you taking advantage of all that
CaseMap® has to offer?
Enhanced CaseMap Acrobat Plus
Plug-In
We brought
you the CaseMap PDF Bates Stamper in CaseMap 6. In
CaseMap 7 we changed the Bates Stamper name to the CaseMap
Acrobat Plus Plug-In to better reflect its capabilities. The
new plug-in gives you enhanced tools to help you find specific
Bates-numbered pages, filter to limit your spreadsheet view to
a range of documents, analyze your document index to identify
potential problems in your Bates Number entries, synchronize
Bates End/Pages fields and more.
The
Bates Analyzer looks at the numbers in the Bates
Begin and Bates End fields and performs several analyses to
find inconsistencies, duplications and anomalies. You can
get a summary of the analyses as well as tabs to view Invalid
Documents, Duplicate Documents, Duplicate Pages, Gaps and
Valid Ranges and then create reports as
needed.
With the Bates Find
and Filter utility you can find a Bates-numbered document
anywhere in your Objects-Documents spreadsheet. CaseMap 7
makes it easy to filter your Documents spreadsheet for a range
of Bates Numbers.
The new Bates
End/Pages Synchronization feature adjusts either the
Bates End entry or the Pages value for a document record, and
then the corresponding field will automatically adjust to
remain in synch.
For a
demonstration of the CaseMap Acrobat Plus Plug-In click
here to view an online tutorial. The tool can be purchased
separately, but does require CaseMap 6 or 7 and Acrobat 6 or
later—Standard or Professional. Contact your LexisNexis sales
representative for more information or email

Bulk Send to CaseMap Feature and Concordance
2007
CaseMap 7
has new infrastructure that will allow other programs that
have the “Send to CaseMap” feature to enable a Bulk “Send to
CaseMap” wizard. The new Bulk “Send to CaseMap” wizard
will allow you to define which fields and data are sent to
CaseMap during the Bulk send.
The newest
release of Concordance™ 2007 has the ability to import and
link entire document sets from LexisNexis® Concordance 2007 to
CaseMap, increasing attorney productivity. The new wizard
enables you to define important coded data fields from
Concordance into corresponding fields in CaseMap.

What Other Products Have the “Send To CaseMap”
Feature?
There are actually
too many to name here, but we’ll touch on some of the newest
integrations in CaseMap 7. For information regarding
these features email us: casemap.info@lexisnexis.com
Send to CaseMap for Interwoven, Hummingbird®
and WORLDOX®
Send to
CaseMap plug-ins are now available for Interwoven® (iManage®),
Hummingbird® and WORLDOX® DMS applications. The Bulk “Send to
CaseMap” feature allows you to send multiple document links
and their associated metadata into CaseMap from your DMS in
one operation. Past versions of the DMS plug-in allow only one
document to be linked at a time. This new feature takes
advantage of support for bulk sends to CaseMap that was added
as part of CaseMap 7. As such, you need CaseMap 7 installed to
take advantage of this feature.
Another
new batch operation will get the latest copies of all of the
DMS documents that you have linked to your CaseMap case. The
copies will be downloaded to your local computer in one simple
step. The documents will then be available for you to open
from CaseMap once you are out of the office and away from your
DMS server.
LexisNexis® Time Matters®
8
Time Matters® 8.0 and Billing Matters® 8.0,
the practice management and billing software packages link
directly to CaseMap. This new link allows attorneys to send
matters, contacts, research information and more for trial
preparation and analysis. The “Send to CaseMap” button can be
added to all Time Matters record types (excluding Billing
records), and enables users to send the record to CaseMap.
LexisNexis® CourtLink®
CourtLink®
proceedings can now be sent to CaseMap as an object or a fact
and then linked back to CourtLink. There are
four options:
- Highlight pleading or other text in a
docket and send it to CaseMap as
a Fact.
- Select
a checkbox for a pleading or other action and send the
Pleading and the full docket to CaseMap as Objects.
- Right-click anywhere on a docket and send it to
CaseMap as an Object.
- Use the
new Bulk Send to CaseMap Wizard—check a set of pleadings or
the whole docket, right-click and set them all up as Objects
in CaseMap with links back to CourtLink.
You’ll
also want to check out the CourtLink integration to our
TimeMap® timeline graphing tool. TimeMap clients can subscribe
to CourtLink and send the dates and text from a selected
set of pleadings to a TimeMap timeline, displaying them
chronologically as Facts.
The new "Send to TimeMap" button appears in
dockets for courts in US District Civil, Criminal,
Bankruptcy, the Circuit Courts of Appeals, and Delaware
Chancery. NOTE: Requires TimeMap
4.1
Adobe® Acrobat® 8
Enhancements to Adobe Acrobat 8 are compatible with
CaseMap 7. Our new CaseMap Acrobat Plus Plug-in enables
CaseMap 7 to recognize Acrobat 8 Bates Stamps and import them
into CaseMap just like our own PDF Bates Stamper.
